Nottingham Forest could get a huge boost over Allan Saint-Maximin with Newcastle prepared to sell him if they sign Anthony Gordon. According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies boss Eddie Howe could entertain offers for the player if they land the Everton man.

Forest were linked with Saint-Maximin yesterday. It’s claimed that Forest asked about the French forward during negotiations between the Reds and Newcastle for Chris Wood.

It’s claimed that the answer was a resounding no at the time. Newcastle are chasing a top-four place and the boss isn’t keen on letting any of his current crop leave this month.

That could change, however, with Newcastle edging closer to the signing of Gordon. His arrival will shunt Saint-Maximin down the pecking order and the latest report says the 25-year-old could depart.

Saint-Maximin signed for the Magpies in 2019. He’s been a useful player for the club and after costing just £16 million from Nice, he’s made 109 appearances for the club, registering 32 goal contributions.

The tricky performer is something of a speed demon. He loves to take players on and perhaps the only criticism of him is that he could occasionally benefit from a better end product.

Still, he’d be a very useful addition to a team currently fighting against relegation this season. Furthermore, a move to Forest would allow him to continue playing in the Premier League.

This could be massive news for the Reds. Sporting director Filippo Giraldi is a huge fan of the winger. It’s also fair to say that he’d provide an injection of pace to the Forest frontline.

Saint-Maximin probably wouldn’t come cheap to the Reds. Newcastle would want at least what they paid Nice for him, whilst the player earns around £93,000-a-week at St James’ Park.

Gordon looks like the key to this deal. He was also linked with a move to the City Ground over the weekend but Newcastle are now progressing well with talks.

Forest will almost certainly sign another forward player before the end of the transfer window. If it’s Saint-Maximin, the club could complete a game-changing signing in their quest to stay in the Premier League.
