Everton are lining up a bid for Artem Dovbyk after Nottingham Forest tried to sign him in the summer. According to The Sun, the Toffees want the striker after their attempt to land Arnaut Danjuma ended in tears.

The crisis-stricken Premier League club have work to do before the end of the month. They sit 19th in the league table and are starring at the Championship right now.

Dovbyk is a player who is bang in form and one who would likely relish a crack at the Premier League. During 2022/23 he has scored 16 goals for SK Dnipro and looks destined for a top European league.

Everton are about to cash in on Anthony Gordon. The Toffees almost sold him during the summer transfer window but they opted to keep him, despite Chelsea bidding £45 million.

The 25-year-old was linked with a move to Forest during the summer transfer window. Shortly after the Reds won promotion, Dovbyk was linked with a £10 million move to the City Ground.

Nothing came of it back then and it does seem unlikely that the Reds will move to try and sign Dovbyk this month. Chris Wood has already been added as an uncompromising focal point and a different sort of forward will be targeted.

The SK Dnipro man will undoubtedly be a wanted man. His goal record in Ukraine is fantastic, with the striker scoring 40 goals from 67 appearances for his current club.

It’s no surprise that Forest courted the striker. The Reds identified several strikers during the off-season, with Taiwo Awoniyi checking in at the City Ground as a physical presence.

Whoever Everton manage to sign this month will have an impact on Forest. The Reds will hope that they don’t land their targets as they hope to stay above the relegation zone.

Dovbyk would represent a small risk anyway. He’s never played in a top European league and he’d be massively under pressure to succeed if Everton do make him a January signing.
