Nottingham Forest have been handed a boost in their quest to sign FC Cincinnati striker Brenner, according to MLS journalist Tom Bogert. The Reds want to sign the talisman before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
Forest have looked at several strikers during the January transfer window. Chris Wood has checked in from Newcastle but a different type of talisman is also being targeted.
Brenner has been a wanted man for quite some time. He was courted by Udinese earlier in the transfer window but it would appear that the player now fancies a move to Forest instead.

The striker now looks to have been given the green light to make a move by the Cincinnati coaching staff. He’s currently training alone and hopes to make a move to Forest before tomorrow’s deadline.
Brenner would further enhance the Brazilian contingent at the City Ground. Renan Lodi has been at the club since August, with Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo being added this month.
The striker would be viewed as a rather exciting signing for the future too. He found the net 18 times and registered six assists during the 2021/22 MLS campaign and typically plays as a centre-forward.
The clock is ticking for Forest, however. This deal might not be completely straight forward and the Reds will have to work hard over the next 24 hours to get Brenner over the line.
NBC Sports praised Brenner last season. They called him a ‘fox in the box’ after a fine run of firm which saw him score goals for fun at FC Cincinnati.
Forest handed Brenner boost
The 23-year-old would be a very useful signing. Naturally, coming from the Brazilian league and more recently the MLS means that the jury would remain out over his ability in Europe.
Brenner looks very capable though. Brazilians don’t typically lack confidence and having a trio of compatriots to help him settle could prove absolutely massive for the player.

It’s claimed that talks are moving between the parties. Perhaps more intriguing it’s claimed that Brenner wants to come to the City Ground and it will be interesting to see if the Reds can get this one over the line.
Another striker is an absolute must. Emmanuel Dennis and Sam Surridge haven’t proved themselves in the Premier League at Forest and Taiwo Awoniyi is currently injured.
