Fabrizio Romano has delivered an exciting update on Nottingham Forest and their pursuit of Atletico Madrid defender Felipe. The Reds have been looking at the centre-back as someone who can come in and bolster their rearguard.

Forest and signing players have been as frequent as clockwork since they reached the Premier League. Still, the Reds have pulled clear of the relegation zone in recent weeks and Steve Cooper will want to keep the momentum.

The defender has bags of experience in European football. He signed for Los Rojiblancos in 2019 from Porto and has helped the team win a La Liga title under Diego Simeone.

Stopping Real Madrid or Barcelona from tasting title silverware is no mean feat. Atletico did it recently, however, and Felipe has largely been a decent player under the Argentine boss.

The 33-year-old has made 113 appearances for Atletico and scored four goals. He will be out of contract during the summer and now the club are willing to sell him to Forest.

Romano has tonight delivered an exciting update for Forest fans to get their head around. He’s claimed that the Reds are now in advanced talks to sign the experienced performer and a deal could be completed soon.

This would definitely be a popular signing with the club’s fan base. Many have suggested all month that the Reds could benefit from another central defensive signing during this window.

Joe Worrall and Willy Boly have been in possession of the shirts just lately. Scott McKenna and Steve Cook are in reserve but it would appear that Cooper doesn’t overly trust those two.

Felipe played 142 times for Porto before joining Atletico. As a result, he will arrive at the City Ground as a proven defender and he could be a useful asset in the fight against relegation.

Romano’s famous tagline of ‘here we go’ hasn’t been uttered just yet. However, he’s advised that it’s close and this looks like a decent addition for the Reds.
