Nottingham Forest have made a last-ditch bid to sign Angelo Gabriel from Santos, reports The Athletic. The Reds have viewed the deal as dead in the water but now something could be done.
The wonderkid has been on Forest’s radar all month. With the clock ticking, the Reds have now decided to revive the deal and make another bid for the talented teenager.
Angelo is currently with Santos and last season he registered eight assists. Furthermore, he’s made over 100 appearances despite still being a teenager, making his debut at 16.
The report claims that Forest could sign Angelo but logistically it will prove tricky. The player remains in South America and the negotiations will need to take place digitally.
Still, moving to the Premier League would provide an incentive for Angelo to push this deal through. He would also join a contingency of Brazilians on Trentside, with Felipe set to become the fourth Samba star to sign for the Reds.
Angelo is tipped for a really bright future. In his homeland, he’s been compared to Neymar and Pele in the past and he has some serious potential in the locker.
Forest now face a race against the clock. Steve Cooper would dearly love to sign another forward with Sam Surridge and Emmanuel Dennis both flattering to deceive this season.
Forest have made last-ditch attempt to sign Angelo
This would be a seriously impressive piece of business by Forest. Angelo is a seriously good player and despite his tender years, he has plenty of experience to his name.
Forest are leaving this very late, however. They only have until 11pm tonight and perhaps the injury sustained by Morgan Gibbs-White has ramped up this latest move.
Angelo would have no trouble settling in England. Gustavo Scarpa, Renan Lodi and Danilo are all in place, with Felipe set to sign for the club later tonight.
Forest will be working tirelessly behind the scenes. If they can get Angelo done before the deadline, it would represent a serious coup.
