The transfer window may have slammed shut but Nottingham Forest could land Andre Ayew today. That’s according to Sky Sports, who have claimed that the Ghana star will fly to England today.

Ayew is on the search for a new club after leaving Al-Sadd. Furthermore, the report claims that Everton have distanced themselves from the striker; despite signing no players in January.

Forest didn’t manage to strengthen their attacking ranks on transfer deadline day. Three players were added, with Keylor Navas, Felipe and Jonjo Shelvey all signing on the dotted line.

The Reds could now look at signing Ayew. There is a connection with Steve Cooper, who called the forward a ‘top player’ when he managed him during his time at Swansea.

Ayew is now available on a free transfer. The versatile forward wants to come back to England, with Forest one of the clubs linked with the player during yesterday’s deadline.

The player has made 113 appearances for Ghana and was in their World Cup squad last year. He missed a penalty for his country as they played Uruguay in the final group game.

Now, he’s looking for a new club. His goalscoring record with Al-Sadd was extremely good, with Ayew finding the net 22 times from just 39 appearances and he’s in confident spirits.

This wouldn’t be the most exciting free transfer in the world but it would give Forest another option to their attacking ranks.

Ayew is a player that Cooper knows and trusts, working with him at Swansea. Furthermore, he wouldn’t cost anything other than five months worth of wages which shouldn’t be too high.

The player can operate on the left or through the middle as a centre-forward. Sam Surridge and Emmanuel Dennis have two goals between them this season and that is a worry.

Ayew would add some competition and on a short-term deal, with Cooper knowing him well, this might not be a bad signing at all.
