Nottingham Forest lost 2-0 to Manchester United last night but they gained a new supporter in PDC star Damon Heta. The darts star was in the away end at Old Trafford and confirmed he’s now a Reds supporter.

Heta has grown on the PDC tour over the past couple of years. The highlight for the Ilkeston-based player came last year when he claimed World Cup glory with doubles partner Simon Whitlock.

The Australian performer is clearly a big football fan. He’s been over in the UK for some time now and is desperately trying to claim a first television title in a singles tournament.

His best achievement came during the 2020 Players Championship Finals when he reached the quarter-final. At the most recent World Championships, he reached the last 32 before losing to Joe Cullen 4-0.

Heta has been in England for three years. Last night, he chose his moment carefully and went to watch his first Forest game with the Reds in action at Old Trafford.

Forest were beaten 2-0 by United as they exited the League Cup 5-0 on aggregate. Last night the Reds were put to the sword by goals from Anthony Martial and Fred as they set up a final with Newcastle.

This is quite a quirky piece of information to take away from last night’s game. Some people simply won’t care that a PDC star supports Forest but it does show how far the club has come.

Three years ago, Heta might not realise what on earth a Nottingham Forest was. Now, he’s living close to the city and given how the team is playing, he was keen to sample a game for himself.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Heta was on the bandwagon last night. If he wasn’t and he’s keen to get more involved with following the club, he’d be extremely wise to sample the City Ground atmosphere.

Only then can he call himself a proper Tricky Tree!
