Anderlecht are going to FIFA to try and force through the loan signing of Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo. According to HLN, the Belgian club are disgruntled with the Reds and are keen to sign the ex-Huddersfield man.

Toffolo has been in Belgium for the last few days. He was expected to put pen to paper on a loan deal during transfer deadline day but Forest delayed the deal as Steve Cooper weighed up his options.

The 27-year-old has found first-team football hard to come by since signing for the Reds for £2.5 million. As a result, the Reds were planning on loaning him out, with Anderlecht keen to sign him.

Now, a claim has been filed with FIFA against Forest. They’ve showcased the mail trail between the two clubs and it apparently showcases that Forest have agreed to all the conditions of the loan.

One claim that is interesting, however, is that Forest never signed the loan agreement. It’s claimed that the Reds cancelled the deal to keep Toffolo as cover and confusion surrounds this deal.

Anderlecht are convinced that they have an agreement. Now, FIFA appear set to get involved and this situation has turned very messy very quickly, with Toffolo in the middle.

It’s hard not to feel some sympathy for Toffolo in this situation. He was all set to head to Anderlecht and play some regular football and that’s something that he’s been craving for a while.

Forest have Renan Lodi in their ranks and he’s playing well. Omar Richards is also on his way back to full fitness and the Reds have perhaps deemed Toffolo surplus to requirements now.

Toffolo is a useful player. He has experience in the second tier, although he’s perhaps been inconsistent during his time in the Premier League so far. As a result, a loan move is for the best.
