Nottingham Forest will sign Andre Ayew on one condition, according to the Daily Mail, with Everton missing out on yet another striker. The deal is thought to be close with the player in Nottingham thrashing out the final stages of the deal.

It’s quite remarkable that the Reds aren’t finished in the transfer market. Still, an extensive injury list does make this deal quite ideal, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi currently on the treatment table.

Furthermore, Jesse Lingard could now be out for a while. The player hobbled out of the warm-up last night prior to Forest’s 2-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup last night.

Ayew is a player that Steve Cooper knows all about. He scored 35 goals in two seasons playing under the Forest head coach, helping Swansea to two play-off campaigns.

These days, the Ghana captain is 33-years-old. His goalscoring credentials have still been evident though and in 39 appearances for Al-Saad, he scored 22 goals having been signed for the club by Xavi.

It remains to be seen whether or not he’s still got it takes to score goals in the Premier League. Ultimately, Cooper trusts him, however, and that can only be a good thing.

Forest will sign Ayew but there’s a condition that must be met

This would be a pretty useful short-term signing. However, there is a condition that needs to be met first with Lewis O’Brien waiting on EFL ratification over a move to Blackburn.

Ayew signing a deal at Forest is subject to O’Brien’s deal being completed. If that does go south then the deal to sign the striker who played at the World Cup could be in jeopardy.

Forest could definitely do with a new striker. Awoniyi is injured, whilst Sam Surridge and Emmanuel Dennis have just two Premier League goals between them this season.

With Forest struggling for goals as it is, it’s understandable Cooper wants some more firepower. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see exactly how Ayew does on Trentside.
