Andre Ayew is having a medical with Nottingham Forest this morning, according to Ghanaian broadcasters Metropolitan Television. The striker is set to link up with Steve Cooper for a second time after rejecting a move to Everton.
Forest had been keen to bolster their forward line during transfer deadline day. An injury to Morgan Gibbs-White has left the team short and Jesse Lingard’s injury further complicated things.

Ayew was most recently playing for the Qatari outfit Al-Sadd. He had a very impressive goalscoring record for them, bagging 22 goals in 39 appearances before leaving them at the turn of the year.
The 33-year-old performer does have Premier League experience with both Swansea and West Ham. In 89 top-flight games, he’s scored 21 goals and he did perform well under Cooper.
Ayew helped Swansea reach the play-offs in back-to-back seasons under the Welsh head coach. During 2019/20, he scored 18 goals and the year later netted 17 times, with the Swans enduring heartbreak in the play-offs on both occasions.
Cooper called Ayew a ‘top player’ and he’s also earned praise before from Xavi. He signed him for Al-Sadd and the current Barcelona boss said he was ‘professional and talented’ after landing him.
Ayew having medical with Forest
This won’t go down well with some fans. Ultimately, it’s quite clearly a Cooper signing though and if the thinks Ayew can add something on a short-term deal then why not.
The experienced performer has experience playing in top leagues. Furthermore, it was only three months ago that he was captaining Ghana during their World Cup campaign.

Ayew has made 113 appearances for Ghana. He has the respect of his entire country and it looks as though Forest are getting themselves a very decent player for the dressing room.
Furthermore, the Reds signing him means Everton miss out on another striker. They made at least 10 offers on transfer deadline day and their lack of firepower is a serious worry for the team 19th in the Premier League.
Only time will tell whether or not this proves a successful deal. Cooper knows and trusts Ayew, however, and that should bode well if this one does get over the line in the coming days.
