Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson had some fun with the Leeds United defence on Sunday. He scored the winner as the Reds beat the Whites 1-0 at the City Ground. After the game, he received praise from Jesse Lingard, Neco Williams and ex-academy starlet Jayden Richardson.
The Reds knew this was a massive game. Picking up all three points against Leeds means that Steve Cooper’s men now have a six-point cushion on Leeds. The win also continues an unbeaten start to 2023 in the Premier League and has Forest looking up.

Johnson played the full 90 minutes as the Reds defeated a Leeds side in horrific form. Johnson scored after just 14 minutes to silence the Leeds faithful. Their angst towards Jesse Marsch didn’t fall on deaf ears, with the American getting sacked 24 hours later.
The goal was Johnson’s seventh of the season in all competitions. The majority of those have come since the World Cup in Qatar and since Johnson returned from that he’s been in blistering form for the Reds.
At 21-years-old, it’s quite frightening how good Johnson could become. He’s playing regularly in the Premier League and scoring goals right now, with Cooper calling him ‘fantastic’ after Sunday.
Forest star Johnson scored against Leeds and players past and present have reacted
The Reds talisman is a popular member of the Reds’ team. It would also seem as though he’s a respected member of the dressing room and players past and present have reacted.
Lingard was an unused substitute on Sunday and he said on Instagram: “What a guy.”
Williams is a teammate of Johnson’s for club and country. He also praised the talented player, choosing to comment: “Wallop.”

Richardson departed Forest on a permanent basis in the summer of 2021. After looking like he would get a shot under Chris Hughton, he signed for Aberdeen.
The academy graduate said: “Different gravy son.”
There is still more to come from Johnson. Forest will hope to secure their survival as quickly as possible and then they can’t start to prepare for next season.
