Journalist makes obvious claim about Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson

Dean Jones has claimed that Nottingham Forest will do whatever it takes to keep Brennan Johnson but the mere notion of him going anywhere is strange. Johnson is Forest’s form player at the moment and he recently signed a new four-year contract.

The 21-year-old took his goal tally to seven in all competitions at the weekend. Forest defeated Leeds United 1-0 at the City Ground, with the youngster’s rasping volley arguably his pick of the bunch when it comes to Premier League strikes.

Johnson scored 19 goals for the Reds last season as they were promoted to the Championship. He also registered 10 assists and before the World Cup, he did show some signs that he wasn’t quite adapting to like in the top flight.

Now, however, those concerns have been banished. He’s really stepped up since the tournament in Qatar and now he’s looking every inch the player that fans and Forest know he can become.

So it does come as a surprise that Give Me Sport felt the need to ask journalist Dean Jones about his future. Naturally, it’s no surprise that the club wish to keep him around.

He told Give Me Sport: “There’s obviously, so much upheaval that they need to try and have some consistency in their line-up, and this turnover of players obviously has to stop at some point.

“They don’t want to lose him and I think they’ll do everything to keep him at the club for at least another year.”

Jones has claimed Forest will keep Johnson but he didn’t have to

Ah, the talk of Forest’s signings again. Of course, at some point, it will have to be curtailed but this season it was necessary. Forest lost several of last season’s team and it was only natural that there would be upheaval following the surprise promotion.

Talking about Johnson’s future is strange. Forest are six points off the drop zone and should be looking up. Instead, it would appear that some journalists and pundits still want to pull the Reds down.

It’s hardly breaking news that Forest will want to keep Johnson. He’s Nottingham born and bred, recently signed a new contract and is now thriving on the biggest stage in the Premier League.

These claims from Jones don’t seem to make much sense and hopefully, Johnson can fire Forest to safety in the coming weeks.
