Former Premier League player Craig Burley has told ESPN that Nottingham Forest star Keylor Navas would have been perfect for Tottenham. The Costa Rica international signed for the Reds on loan until the end of this season from PSG.
Navas was inspirational during his debut performance for Forest against Leeds. The Reds won 1-0 against their rivals in the fight against relegation, with the 110-cap international making four superb saves in the opening 45 minutes.
The Reds fought hard to try and sign Navas. It proved a month-long chase and was ramped up when Dean Henderson injured his tight during a 2-0 win over Leicester on the 14th January.

With the deadline edging ever closer it appeared as though the deal was off. But, with Navas pushing for a move to Forest, a deal was agreed upon and completed in the nick of time.
It’s a remarkable coup for the Reds. Burley thinks that Navas would have been perfect for Tottenham, with Hugo Lloris now set for six weeks on the sidelines.
He told ESPN: “You mentioned to me earlier, Keylor Navas going to Nottingham Forest. It’s all about timing.
“If you could have got somebody like that in on loan until the end of the season, if Lloris had got injured a little bit earlier, that’s a different kettle of fish, getting that quality of keeper in.”

It is quite amazing that Forest have gone out and signed Navas. When Henderson picked up his injury fans feared the worst but this signing is certainly a fantastic addition to the ranks.
Tottenham must be wishing Lloris had picked up his injury earlier. Had it still been January, the club could have gone out and maybe added another goalkeeper to their ranks.

Still., Forest will be glad he didn’t as Tottenham will have almost certainly looked at Navas. He was available on loan from PSG and he’d have surely jumped at a club that remains in Europe.
Their loss is Forest’s gain though. Neco Williams called him ‘massive’ after his debut and there will be more to come from the Costa Rican as this season reaches it’s business end.
