Nottingham Forest have a long-standing interest in Jamaal Lascelles and the defender is now expected to leave Newcastle United.

That’s according to The Northern Echo, who claim that Newcastle will ‘listen to offers’ for their club captain this summer.

Lascelles is now in the final 18 months of his contract and Newcastle seemingly don’t want to lose him for free in 2024.

Newcastle didn’t fancy a January exit but with more time to replace him in the summer, a deal is possible.

Forest are named as a potential suitor but Premier League rivals Wolves are also thought to be interested.

Julen Lopetegui’s men are considered to be likely bidders and have done extensive scouting on Lascelles in the past.

That means a return to Forest could be in danger but a City Ground comeback would surely appeal to Lascelles over a move to Molineux.

Jamaal Lascelles has history with Nottingham Forest

Lascelles may have been born in Derby but came up through the Forest ranks from a young age.

The centre back only managed 38 first-team appearances before Newcastle struck a 2014 deal alongside Karl Darlow.

Lascelles was sent back on loan to Forest and after 28 appearances n the 2014-15 season, he finally joined up with the Magpies.

Now with more than 200 appearances for Newcastle to his name, Lascelles has been a fixture of the Magpies side in recent years.

Yet with Newcastle now advancing rapidly, Lascelles is falling down the pecking order and has only started three league games this term.

Forest will have a number of centre back options though; Joe Worrall, Felipe, Scott McKenna, Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly will all be in the mix whilst Giulian Biancone will be back.

Signing Lascelles only really makes sense if one of those centre backs move on this summer, but seeing him in the famous red and white again would be fantastic.
