Loic Mbe Soh was allowed to leave Nottingham Forest on loan in January with the centre-back joining Guingamp in Ligue 2. In his most recent outing, he did showcase one weakness that he needs to continue working on.
Mbe Soh has been unlucky at Forest. A number of injuries and the team doing well during the 2021/22 season meant that he was unable to force his way into Steve Cooper’s plans.

A loan move seemed likely once Forest were promoted to the Premier League. Still, the club were unable to sort him out with anything for the first half of the season and he was forced into playing for the under-21s.
In January, however, he finally got his move. Guingamp allowed the Frenchman to return to France and fortunately, he’s been able to get some games under his belt in Ligue 2.
So far the central defender has made four appearances for his temporary club, scoring one goal. In his most recent outing, however, he perhaps showcased an area where he can improve his game.
Despite winning both of his aerial duels and both of his tussles on the ground, Sofa Score shows that the player lost possession a staggering 13 times. That doesn’t bode well for a player who has previously been considered a ball-playing option.
Me Soh was allowed to leave Forest and he will hope to return with a point to prove
At 21-years-old, Mbe Soh can still have a future at Forest. The youngster has only made 13 appearances for the Reds since checking in during the summer of 2020 and he will want to prove himself still.
The talented central defender should improve with the more games he plays. With that in mind, the player’s figures for keeping hold of the ball could look a lot rosier as the season progresses.

Guingamp did still win the game 3-1 against Valenciennes. It’s fair to say, however, that the club will face tougher teams this season and Mbe Soh will come up against better forwards.
This is only a minor blemish on some otherwise strong form at Guingamp. Being able to play out from the back is a key attribute of playing as a centre-back, however, and Mbe Soh will hope to tighten up.
