Paul Ince has explained to Berkshire Live what he told Nottingham Forest loanee Tyrese Fornah before he score the winner for Reading on Tuesday night.

The Reds youngster was on hand to head home with just seconds remaining. The 2-1 win injected life into Reading and threw Rotherham into the relegation mire.

It was the second time that Fornah has scored for the Royals this season. This was, however, his first goal since August and what a timely one it was.

Fornah is set for a bright future. Whether or not that is at Forest remains to be seen, with the player now 23-years-old and craving regular football.

Ince is never short of confidence and he’s explained what he told Fornah before he introduced him at half-time. It’s fair to say he showed him some tough love!

The Royals boss told Berkshire Live: “He missed out on a tackle and I said ‘you’re meant to be from Dagenham – you need to show some Dagenham stuff out there because at the moment you’re losing tackles’. Then he won the next one and scored a header so he’s happy.”

The former England international is clearly getting a tune out of Fornah. Now, he will hope to force his way back into the starting eleven in the coming weeks.

Fornah is a talented midfielder and perhaps playing under Ince has been perfect for him. The boss has experience with Manchester United, Liverpool and England throughout a colourful career.

The box-to-box midfielder was handed a new contract before he joined Reading. That in itself perhaps suggests that even if Forest don’t keep him, they feel he’s too good to leave on a free transfer.

Clearly, the tough-love approach worked on Fornah. He now has 16 more games to continue gaining invaluable experience and he will hope to discover in the summer whether or not he gets a chance at Forest.
