Nottingham Forest under-18s thrashed Manchester United 4-0 on Saturday, with forward Danny Anijsko showcasing his quality throughout the contest.

The Reds welcomed United to the Nigel Doughty Academy in a repeat of last year’s FA Youth Cup Final which Forest lost.

Both teams have changed a little bit since then. This game at the Forest training facility was made up largely of players who didn’t feature that night.

One man who did shine was Reds forward Anijsko. His performance saw him score and win a penalty for his team with the United website raving about his display.

They claimed he was a ‘thorn in United’s side’ all afternoon and was ‘integral‘ for Forest’. Anijsko scored the third goal and won the penalty for Kyle McAdam to make it 2-0.

It was a pretty surprising result that Forest managed to claim. United have now lost just three times this season and currently occupy third place.

The Reds endured a pretty ordinary start but this emphatic victory has moved the team up to fifth place in the league table.

It was the form of Anijsko that caught the eye at the weekend. The 16-year-old looks to have a bright future and the Reds will hope there is more to come from him.

To most Forest supporters, Anijsko will be an unknown quantity. He’s started eight times for the under-18s this season and is growing with each performance.

Anijsko is only 16-years-old and he looks like a big player for the Reds. He’s now scored two goals this season and can operate in a number of positions.

During 2022/23, he’s operated as a winger or through the middle as a centre-forward. It would appear that his best football comes from a wide position.

Anijsko might be an unknown quantity for now. If he continues starring in games against teams like United, however, he will start becoming more of a household name.
