The Nottingham Forest Matchday Pass has dropped and Jesse Lingard did something brilliant before Saturday’s game. The Reds drew 1-1 with Manchester City at the City Ground, with Chris Wood scoring a late equaliser.

Lingard wasn’t involved again by boss Steve Cooper. The ex-Manchester United man is struggling with a problem with his Achilles and is awaiting some good news to return to action.

It’s been a difficult period for the Forest man since the World Cup. He picked up a hamstring problem in the Premier League game against Manchester United and then injured his Achilles in the warm-up before the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Lingard had started to get up to full speed prior to the World Cup. He scored his first Reds goal against Tottenham and he was just starting to showcase his quality to the supporters.

The 30-year-old hasn’t actually played since injuring his hamstring against United in December. As a result, he will hope to return to action quickly and start helping his teammates.

Forest are 13th in the Premier League. After Saturday’s draw with Manchester City, the Reds are looking up once again and now have huge games against West Ham and Everton to come.

The Matchday Pass footage has been a fantastic addition to the club’s content plan this season. The behind-the-scenes action follows the team from the moment they arrive until after the game has finished.

Lingard has taken some flak from various people this season. His own supporters have felt the need to pile on with the criticism but his attitude should never be in question.

Ahead of the game against City, the Reds forward was spotted doing something brilliant. As the players arrived for duty, Lingard was seen welcoming each player with a seemingly pre-choreographed handshake.

It was a somewhat heartwarming moment by one of the injured players. Lingard is often misunderstood and he’s clearly a valued member of the City Ground dressing room this season.

The 30-year-old will now have his eyes on a return to action. His injury isn’t thought to be particularly serious and the hope will be that he can be back in the squad very soon.
