Nottingham Forest are preparing for West Ham United this weekend and Keylor Navas has been spotted doing something brilliant in training.

The Reds landed the PSG stopper on transfer deadline day. He joined on a short-term loan until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Navas has been around the block. He’s won three Champions League titles throughout his career and has won league titles in France and Spain.

Now, he’s in the midst of another challenge with survival very much the order of the day for Forest this season.

The Reds stopper has been in fine form so far. He’s helped Forest claim four points from three games, with Saturday’s draw with Manchester City just deserved.

Navas is a quality goalkeeper and his save from Ilkay Gundogan’s free-kick and Aymeric Laporte’s header were a joy to behold.

At 36, it does seem as though this will be a short-term thing. Forest have managed to get PSG to heavily subsidise the player’s wages and that works for now.

Navas possesses unreal ability across his line. He’s quick, composed and has the ability to make saves that other goalkeepers can’t.

Interestingly, Navas has been snapped in training but the best aspect of what he was doing was nothing to do with goalkeeping.

Despite his status in the game, the player still had time for the younger goalkeepers ahead of yesterday’s training session.

Nicky Hogarth and George Shelvey were both training with Navas and Wayne Hennessey has Forest prepare for West Ham.

There is one piece of footage on the latest training video that appears to show Navas introducing himself to the younger players.

There is a nice moment where Navas offers a handshake to Hogarth ahead of some training drills.

This perhaps suggests that the man with 110 caps for Costa Rice will bring other qualities to the Forest team.

It would appear that not only is he a good goalkeeper but also that he’s a decent character to have around the place.

Navas looks like a smart signing for plenty of reasons and it’s warming to know that he’s helping the younger players develop too.
