Ally McCoist has discussed the survival hopes of Nottingham Forest live on TalkSPORT this morning. The Reds currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League despite a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of West Ham last weekend.

McCoist is one of the best pundits on radio and television these days. He is a regular on the TalkSPORT Breakfast Show and can also be found commentating on Amazon Prime and ITV.

Forest are still in with a chance of survival this season. Given that they were in the bottom three when the World Cup haltered domestic football, Steve Cooper has overseen a mini-revival.

McCoist believes that Forest are far from safe yet. He believes that everyone up to the Reds and below are still in with a chance of being relegated this season.

He said live on TalkSPORT: “I think all the way up to 13th and Nottingham Forest. If we look at Forest, the next three or four games for them are going to be absolutely vital. They’ve got the ability to pick up points at home. But next up it’s Everton at home, Tottenham away and Newcastle at home. They’re vital for them.

The pundit is right in what he says. Forest have some very tough fixtures on the horizon and it would be foolish to believe that the Reds are safe yet.

Forest have scored just three times away all season. That form alone could be enough to consign the Reds back to Championship football after just a single campaign in the top flight.

Hopefully, Forest can galvanize themselves for their remaining home games. In hindsight, they have enough games left at the City Ground to ensure they get enough points.

Ideally, however, the Reds would improve away. If they can continue in fine form at home and pick up points away, they should be capable of romping to safety this season.

McCoist did sit on the fence somewhat but he’s right to suggest that the Reds have some work to do in the battle for survival.
