Mickael Nade was linked with Nottingham Forest last summer but now he’s set to move to Poland. TEAMtalk claimed that the St Etienne defender was on Steve Cooper’s radar following promotion to the Premier League.
Forest left no stone unturned in their quest to add more defenders to their ranks in the summer. Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly were both signed by Cooper and interest in Nade wavered.
Now, it would appear that the 23-year-old is finally set to win a move away from the Ligue 2 outfit. Legia Warsaw are set to sign the centre-back with the transfer window still open in Poland right now, according to Foot Mercato.
Nade has made 14 appearances for St Etienne during 2022/23. In recent weeks, however, he’s been out of favour, playing just 24 minutes in the last eight outings for the club.
A move to Legia Warsaw looks ideal for the player. He will be guaranteed first-team football in Poland and at 23-years-old he will be keen to kick start his career.
Forest opted for more experience in their quest to bolster their central defensive options. Niakhate had been the captain at Mainz, whilst Boly arrived with bags of experience from his time with Wolves and Porto.
Nade was wanted by Forest but now he’s set for Poland
The uncompromising defender would have been a decent addition to the squad. However, he’d have likely been a signing for the future at a time when Forest needed players for the here and now.
It will be interesting to see how Nade gets on. He will have a former Forest man in the ranks to help him settle in Poland, with Yuri Ribeiro one of the star attractions.
Nade is strong, quick and fits the mantra of a defender who is comfortable playing out from the back. He will be keen to prove a point to St Etienne and that makes him a dangerous proposition.
