The agent of Angelo Gabriel has dismissed speculation linking his client with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle. Both Premier League clubs have been linked with a move but Angelo’s agent has not cooled the speculation in an interview with Premier League Brazil.

It has previously been claimed that Angelo almost signed for Forest in January. With the deadline drawing ever closer some reports suggested that the Brazilian wonderkid was undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Forest.

Now, it would appear that the player is happy at Santos. His desire to leave isn’t perhaps as strong as some reports have suggested and perhaps a summer move isn’t on the cards.

Angelo is going to be a wonderful player. He’s drawn comparisons with Neymar, Pele and Ronaldinho and surely clubs will be vying for his signature in the coming years.

His agent has dismissed any immediate desires to leave though. He’s claimed that Angelo is focused on Santos and isn’t dreaming of a European adventure.

He told Premier League Brazil: “At the moment it’s all speculation. There’s nothing. Angelo doesn’t even talk about playing abroad. He talks a lot about Santos, he’s focused here. Now that he’s at Santos, he doesn’t think about that.”

The talented teenager won’t exactly cost the earth. It’s been claimed in various parts that Santos want just £20 million from any club that is keen to take a punt on Angelo.

Angelo speculation dismissed but he will remain on the Forest radar

Regardless of what his agent says, Santos won’t be able to keep him forever. The lure of the megabucks in Europe will soon be offered and that could turn his head towards a move.

Forest and Newcastle could both provide pretty decent packages. The Magpies will likely be in Europe next season and that in itself makes them an attractive proposition.

As for Forest, they have quite a contingent of Brazilian stars. Renan Lodi is at the club and he was joined in January by Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo and Felipe.

For now, Angelo will be staying put at Santos. His agent’s words will perhaps look somewhat foolish if Forest or Newcastle manages to prise him away in the summer transfer window.
