Liam Rosenior has reacted after hearing that Nottingham Forest want to sign Jacob Greaves in the summer. The Hull City manager has been discussing the future of his central defender during an interview with Hull Live.

Greaves has been touted with a move to Forest this week. The Daily Mail claims that Aston Villa and Brentford are also in the mix to sign the 22-year-old defender.

The youngster has come of age this season. He’s showcased his versatility to play centre-back and left-back, with the player also wearing the captain’s armband when Lewie Coyle hasn’t played.

Now, interest is rife from the Premier League. Rosenior has been quizzed on the future of his defensive supremo and he’s not exactly issued a response that suggests he’s not for sale.

The Hull boss told Hull Live: “It’s wonderful that a player who has come through our academy has been spoken about in this way. I love it when my players are being linked with clubs higher up because it means they’re doing a good job and it means the team is doing a good job.

“Jacob’s an outstanding player. Would I rather have him here from a footballing point of view? Every single club has to make a decision based on their best interests.

“Sometimes that’s keeping a player and sometimes that’s selling a player and I’m sure we’ll make that decision whenever that comes up. He’s brilliant. He’s naturally an outstanding player.”

“We’ll see in the summer what comes of that.”

Rosenior has reacted and Forest might have hope in Greaves quest

Hull currently sit 16th in the Championship. Although the league is tight, it seems unlikely that the Tigers will be winning promotion during the 2022/23 campaign.

Having spent some money last summer, that could mean they have to cut their cloth 12 months later. As a result, the club could be open to raking in some cash on the sale of Greaves.

The centre-back would add to the Forest squad nicely. His versatility would be useful, whilst at 22-years-old he should prove to be a reliable signing for the future.

Greaves will have plenty of suitors if he carries on playing as well as he is right now. As a result, Forest might have to act quickly to get this one over the line in the summer.
