Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has issued an emotional response after a report from the Daily Mail linked him with a move away from the club. The Reds boss has been at the City Ground since September 2021 when he replaced Chris Hughton.

The report emerged yesterday ahead of Forest’s huge game against Everton. It’s claimed that Tottenham, Leeds, Chelsea, West Ham and Brighton could all look at appointing Cooper if they change their managers in the summer.

This news might come as a shock to the Reds fan base. In a short space of time, Cooper has taken Forest to the Premier League and put them in a position where they might stay up this season.

Ahead of Sunday’s game with Everton, the boss was quizzed on his future. It’s fair to say that the manager has absolutely no desire to leave the City Ground and has eased the fears of the fan base.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “Nottingham Forest means everything to me, and this job that I do – from the moment I walked in, to where we are now. The only thing that is important, apart from my family, in my life is this football club. That’s where I am.”

Cooper has issued an emotional response to Forest fans

This will be music to the Forest fans’ ears. Cooper is the heartbeat of the football club and quite frankly they can’t afford to lose him any time soon.

What the Welshman has done at Forest has been nothing short of remarkable. Forest weren’t really in contention for promotion this time 12 months ago but here we are now.

Cooper is a burgeoning manager. He’s young, keen to learn and is already proving himself as a bit of a mastermind when it comes to the tactical side of things.

At some point, Forest could lose Cooper. Thankfully, it doesn’t sound as though that time will be coming any time soon.
