Apostolos Vellios was sold by Nottingham Forest in 2019 and on Friday night he ran riot in a huge win for PEC Zwolle.
The former striker signed for the Dutch second-division outfit in the summer. He joined from PAS Lamia in Greece and he’s performing well.
Vellios was always hardworking during his time at Forest. He was renowned for scoring great goals as opposed to being a great goalscorer during his City Ground stay.

Magnificent strikes came against Aston Villa and Rotherham for the Greece international. In total, he scored eight times in 45 outings for the Reds before being sold to Atromitos.
On Friday night, PEC Zwolle went goal crazy. They thrashed FC Den Bosch 13-0 and Vellios helped himself to four goals.
MORE FOREST STORIES
It was arguably one of the greatest nights of the player’s career and a 12-minute hat trick was the icing on the cake.
PEC are well on course for a return to the Eredivisie. They’ve been in the top two all season and currently sit top by three points.
Vellios has scored 10 goals this season. After playing for a number of clubs since leaving Forest, he finally looks to have found a home with his current club.
Interestingly, the man with eight caps for Greece is proving a good team player. He’s registered six assists during the campaign and is a respected member of the squad.
Vellios ran riot in huge win for PEC Zwolle
The striker always gave his all for Forest. He was often viewed as a backup option for the Reds and did struggle for game time somewhat.
Vellios perhaps struggled with the demands of English football. He never quite adapted right, although he did score some brilliant goals.

It didn’t really come as a major surprise when he was sold. Forest signed him on the cheap and it made sense to cash in when they had the chance.
It’s great to see that he’s doing well for himself now though.
Friday was a day that will live long in the memory of Vellios and he will hope another hat trick in on the horizon very soon.
