Nottingham Forest tried to sign Jonathan Tah on transfer deadline day and Florian Plettenberg has claimed that he’s now ready to leave Bayer Leverkusen. The 27-year-old is ready to walk away from the Bundesliga outfit after signing for them in 2015.
Tah was identified by the Reds during the January transfer window as someone who could bolster the squad. A bid was made on transfer deadline day but Xabi Alonso opted to keep his star man.

The German international is now ready to take the leap and leave his current club in the summer. Several Bundesliga clubs have been linked with him previously, including Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham.
Tah would be a remarkable signing for any club in the summer. He has made 288 appearances for his current club and at 27-years-old he would likely arrive at his new club in his prime.
Forest will definitely be in the market for a new central defender in the summer. The Reds have Felipe and Willy Boly who are in their thirties, whilst the jury remains out on the Premier League ability of Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna.
Tah could link up beautifully with Moussa Niakhate. The pair know what it takes to play at the top level and if Forest remain in the Premier League, the Bundesliga star would be a cracking signing.

This won’t be an easy deal for the Reds to complete. The player has a contract with Leverkusen until 2025 and they will want to recoup a decent transfer fee for his services.
Still, Forest will be in the mix if they can avoid relegation. Tah would surely relish the chance to play in the Premier League and Plettenberg believes that some English clubs remain keen.

Defensively Forest have been abysmal at times during 2022/23. As a result, it seems almost certain that the Reds will target better defenders when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.
Tah is an uncompromising figure. He is powerful, strong and can also operate in a two or three-man defensive unit. Forest would dearly welcome a player of his ilk and they’d love to get this one over the line.
