Tony Cascarino has heaped praise on Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson after Sunday’s 2-2 draw. The Reds came from behind twice and the pundit has told The Times that Forest could have a serious fight on their hands in the summer transfer window.

Forest star Johnson has been in fine form since the World Cup. The Reds player has now taken his tally for 2022/23 to nine goals and it would appear that he’s starting to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The academy graduate came in for some criticism earlier in the season – with some of it unfair. With the World Cup on the horizon, it appeared in some games as though he was holding back.

There has been no such criticism since the World Cup, however. Cascarino now believes he’s bang in form and he’s suggested that Forest might struggle to keep hold of him this summer.

The pundit said in The Times: “There’s no right or wrong way to play the game or get results. Winning is all that matters. And in that sense, the Nottingham Forest and Everton draw was an old-school classic. It wasn’t beautiful but it was guts, thunder and end-to-end at times and it showed two teams who are desperate to survive.

“One of the classier players on the pitch was Brennan Johnson, who is getting better and better. If he keeps showing clinical finishing like that second goal into the top corner, then I think a lot of teams will be looking to sign him this summer.”

Cascarino heaped praise on Johnson and Forest man is flying

The former Chelsea striker has made a good point about Johnson. If the Reds are relegated this season then it seems highly unlikely that Forest will be able to keep hold of the player.

Johnson is one of Forest’s own though and he loves playing for the club. If the Reds are relegated there will be a strong chance of promotion again and the player might fancy a part of that.

Forest won’t be thinking about relegation just yet, however. There is still plenty to play for and the Reds will hope Johnson can help the team over the line.
