The Athletic journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke has told The View from the Lane Podcast that Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is on the radar of Tottenham.

The 43-year-old joined the Reds in September 2021. He has taken the team on a meteoric rise from the bottom of the Championship to 14th in the Premier League.

Naturally, clubs are starting to look at Cooper as a viable option. It’s also been claimed that Leeds, West Ham and Brighton are keeping tabs on the head coach for the future.

Cooper doesn’t currently have any interest in leaving the City Ground. He speaks proudly of his position on Trentside and he knows that the project isn’t yet finished.

Pitt-Brooke believes that Cooper is on the radar of Tottenham. They’re preparing to see Antonio Conte depart with last night’s Champions League exit another nail in the coffin.

The journalist said on The View from the Lane Podcast: “Cooper’s name has certainly come up. I heard Cooper’s name over the weekend and I know it was in the newspapers as well over the weekend.

“Cooper is a name that I have heard. What will be interesting is if Daniel Levy goes for a big name, Pochettino, Tuchel or does he go for someone younger with a more patient rebuild type of approach and I think Cooper would be top of that mini list.”

Cooper on the radar of Tottenham

Nothing against the Forest head coach but it would be very risky for Spurs to go down this route. Once Conte clears his desk, supporters will likely want a big name to replace him.

Cooper would be a safe pair of hands though. He will have a year of Premier League experience to his name after this season and he’s clearly a respected coach.

Forest will hope that Cooper is in no mood for leaving any time soon. He has lots of work still to do at the City Ground and frankly, his stock couldn’t be any higher.

Tottenham are capable of turning heads, however. If they do come calling in the summer, the Forest boss will have an extremely big decision to make.
