Kelvin Wilson has told Team Talk on Notts TV that Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson has proved him wrong as the 2022/23 campaign has progressed.

The man who turned out for Forest, Celtic and Notts County during his career was always a heart-on-his-sleeve type of player.

Wilson was quizzed on another homegrown Forest talent in Johnson. The academy starlet scored twice against Everton on Sunday to take his tally to nine goals.

This season has been a tough learning curve for Johnson. Since the World Cup, however, he’s come of age and is now very much considered the main match-winner at Forest.

Wilson has suggested that Johnson has proved him wrong this season. He’s now convinced that he has what it takes to perform in the Premier League after a sticky start.

He told Team Talk on Notts TV: “Forest have settled and Brennan is a danger man for Forest. Not just at Forest but across the Premier League he’s really dangerous.

“What I like about him is he’s giving a bit back now. When he gets tackles he’s getting up and giving a bit back so he’s getting the physical side of the game now.

“At the start of the season, I thought he’d been found out a little bit but it’s like he’s watched the games back and seen for himself where he needs to improve. It’s good to see.”

Wilson says Johnson has proved him wrong

It’s a fair point made by the player who operated as a centre-back for Forest. Johnson has definitely taken some time to get up to speed in the Premier League this season.

Just lately the forward has been in fine form. He’s returned from the World Cup as a completely different player and he’s now improving each week in the top flight.

The challenge for Johnson is to keep playing at this level. If he does that, he should be capable of scoring the number of goals to keep the Reds in the Premier League for another season.
