Nottingham Forest just can’t catch a break and Steve Cooper has provided an injury update on three players.

The Reds lost 3-1 at Tottenham yesterday, their ninth reversal on their travels during the 2022/23 campaign.

Brennan Johnson, Chris Wood and Wayne Hennessey all collected new problems during the latest defeat.

Goalkeeper Hennessey was only set to be on the bench but he was replaced by George Shelvey with just moments to go until kick-off.

Johnson felt something in his groin during the second half of the clash, whilst Wood came on and then went off again.

It’s a really worrying time for the Reds and injury problems continue to put their Premier League status in jeopardy.

Cooper is clearly concerned by these problems and after the game, he delivered updates on three players.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “Wayne felt his knee, so he wasn’t able to go on the bench. Brennan has come off with a groin strain; we don’t know how bad it is yet, we’ll see how he is in the next day or two.

“He has been a really important player for us but we’ll see how he is. Let’s see when it settles down, see what the scan says, and fingers crossed it’s not as severe as these injuries can be.

“Woody was just unfortunate. He goes on and in his first moment in the game, he gets a really bad knock to his thigh which really swells up instantly like you wouldn’t believe.

“He tried to carry on with his but it was just impossible.”

The Reds boss is clearly growing frustrated with these injuries. His squad is down to the bare bones and Forest’s situation is precarious.

Johnson is clearly the one that Forest fans will wait patiently over. If he misses any games then it’s going to be tough for the Reds to remain in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has scored nine goals this season and he’s an influential figure among his teammates.

As for Wood, Forest signed him to be a focal point. He could do without being injured for too long too, although he will miss Friday’s game against Newcastle anyway.

Hennessey’s injury will likely give Shelvey a chance to act as backup to Keylor Navas.
