Chris Sutton has told The Monday Night Club on 5 Live Sport that Nottingham Forest are bang in trouble. The pundit made the point after watching Tottenham face the Reds on Saturday.

Forest need to get serious in their bid to survive in the Premier League. The Reds are now just two points clear of the relegation zone and face Newcastle at home on Friday night.

It’s the away form that is proving seriously worrying for the Reds. They have claimed just six of their 26 points away from home, scoring just four away goals in the process.

The situation on their travels is becoming perilous. They are sleepwalking back towards the bottom three and other clubs in the mix to be relegated are starting to play better.

BBC pundit Sutton thinks Forest are in big trouble. He was quizzed about the Reds on last night’s show and he believes that Forest will have to improve on their travels.

Sutton told The Monday Night Club: “With Nottingham Forest, I think they’re in big trouble. Their away form is trouble, they’ve scored four away goals all season and they’re bang in trouble.

“At the start of the season, we thought they might just scrape through but their home form has carried them. They certainly need to improve.”

Sutton says Forest are bang in trouble

It’s fair to say that Sutton has a point about Forest. It’s impossible to keep relying on their home form to bail them out and improving away from home is the only hope here.

Forest have to start picking up some points and pretty quickly. Forest still have Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea to play in the Premier League and time is running out.

It would be a real shame for Forest’s first season back in the Premier League to last a single season. It would also likely see another squad overhaul which wouldn’t be ideal.

There is still time for Forest to save themselves. Right now, however, things are looking considerably bleak with each away performance.
