Nottingham Forest tried to sign Anton Stach during the summer and now he’s on the radar of Borussia Dortmund. The Reds wanted the midfielder shortly after landing his Mainz teammate Moussa Niakhate.
Now, the player is set to be a wanted man in the summer. Journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that interest is rife in England, Germany and Italy, with Dortmund the latest to show their hand.
Stach has been with Mainz since 2021 when he signed from Greuther Furth. He’s become a sound player during his time with the Bundesliga club, making 56 appearances for the club.
At 6ft 4in, the 24-year-old is a colossal presence in the middle of the park for Mainz. He’s also made two appearances for the German national team and the future looks bright.
Forest were keen to sign the midfielder in the summer. The Reds ended up signing 23 new players during that transfer window but they ended up targeting other midfield players.
Whether Forest will remain in the mix remains to be seen. Clearly, they will need to stay in the Premier League first and with Dortmund now keen they could be fighting a losing battle anyway.

Stach would be a very useful signing. He is an imposing figure in the engine room and it’s clear that Steve Cooper likes his midfielders to boast a physical presence.
Forest can’t focus on new signings right now though. They have work to do in their fight against relegation with the season now approaching the business end.
Stach has bags of potential and it’s no surprise that clubs are fighting for his signature. It’s claimed that he will be available for just £10 million in the summer and that would represent a steal.
Dortmund could be in the hunt for a new midfielder for next season. Jude Bellingham looks certain to come to the Premier League and Stach might be his replacement.
