Nottingham Forest were keen to sign Konstantinos Mavropanos in January but now Eintracht Frankfurt have opened talks with him. The 25-year-old defender looks set to leave VfB Stuttgart in the summer and Sky Deutschland has claimed that talks have begun.
Mavropanos made the permanent transfer from Arsenal to Stuttgart in the summer. He has grown as a player during 2022/23 and Forest made an offer to sign the player during the January transfer window.

The Greece international didn’t really get a proper chance at Arsenal. He made just eight appearances during his time at the club and left in search of regular football.
During 2022/23, he’s been granted his wish with Stuttgart. The central defender has played 23 games for the Bundesliga outfit but he could now be on the move.
Frankfurt are the reigning Europa League champions and they will provide an attractive proposition. Forest and Leeds are both providing interest from the Premier League.
MORE FOREST STORIES
Mavropanos was perhaps hard done by in North London. After his debut, Ian Wright called him ‘fearless’ and tipped him for a bright future at the Emirates Stadium.
At 25-years-old the centre-back has bags of time on his side. He must also fancy another crack at the Premier League after possibly feeling hard done by at Arsenal.
Frankfurt have opened talks with Forest-linked Mavropanos
The Bundesliga appear to have shown their hand first. It’s claimed in the report that further reports will take place but that the move to Frankfurt appeals to the player.
Forest will definitely go in search of more defenders in the summer. They’ve been left desperately short at centre-back of late and reliable options will be sought next season.

The tricky thing for Forest at the moment is they don’t know what leave they’ll be in. As a result, the club will perhaps be compiling two different lists to prepare for both eventualities.
If the Reds stay in the division, Mavropanos would be an interesting signing. With Frankfurt making an early move, however, Forest might be fighting a losing battle.
