Nottingham Forest remain in the hunt to sign Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker, according to Bild. The Reds aren’t the only club interested, with Everton and West Ham also monitoring the situation.

Forest were keen to add the 28-year-old to their ranks in January. He is available for around £13 million and it’s thought that his salary could double if he comes to the Premier League.

Becker would have a familiar face to help him adapt to life at the City Ground. He spent last season playing alongside Taiwo Awoniyi and together the pair helped Union Berlin qualify for Europe.

The talented forward typically operated as a number 10 or through the middle as a striker. This season he’s found the net eight times and claimed seven assists in all competitions.

Becker was born in the Netherlands and came through the ranks playing for various youth teams at international level. Now, however, he’s pledged his allegiance to Suriname and has collected five caps playing for them.

Forest will have to remain in the Premier League before they can think about signing Becker. If they do that though he could prove to be a very useful addition to the squad.

It was a familiar situation in the summer. Forest get linked with a player before Everton and West Ham’s name gets mentioned in the mix for the same player a few days later.

Now, it appears that the three clubs will do battle for another star man. Becker is in the sights of the trio but all three must avoid relegation themselves first and foremost.

Becker would be a wonderful addition to the Forest squad. At 28-years-old he should be at the peak of his powers and his blistering pace would be a very useful asset to the Reds.

The Suriname international has bags of top-flight experience to his name. As a result, he’d be a useful addition to the ranks given that he wouldn’t break the bank and should adapt to the Premier League nicely.
