Some Nottingham Forest training footage has showcased a possible partnership that Steve Cooper could unleash tomorrow.

The Reds take on Newcastle at the City Ground, desperate to end their five-match sequence without winning in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe will bring his Champions League-chasing team to Trentside looking to edge closer to the top four.

Brennan Johnson picked up an injury at Tottenham and he is likely to miss out tomorrow night. He adds to a list of problems that is already extensive.

His absence will open the door for other players to stake their claim for a place in Cooper’s plans.

In training earlier today, some footage showcased a potential partnership that the head coach could be ready to unleash.

The clip that was showcased on Twitter appeared to show Morgan Gibbs-White and Andre Ayew being put through the paces.

It’s a partnership that hasn’t really had much time together but during the exercise, they looked cohesive.

Ayew was lashing shots in with his left foot; whilst Gibbs-White even scored with his head during the drill.

It will be interesting to see how Cooper plans to fill the void left by Johnson.

He does have some options, although Chris Wood will be unavailable as he’s still on loan from Newcastle.

Ayew will compete with Emmanuel Dennis for a place in the team, whilst Jesse Lingard is also in contention.

Clearly, Cooper fancies Ayew though, with the pair working together a few years ago at Swansea City.

Gibbs-White will definitely be playing and the challenge is to get players around him who can stick the ball in the net.

Looking at the training footage, it would appear that Ayew might be in line for a first start in the Garibaldi.
