Nottingham Forest promotion hero Djed Spence has helped Rennes defeat PSG away from home today. The 22-year-old played for 77 minutes as the visitors secured a famous Ligue 1 victory.

The talented player joined Rennes during the January transfer window. He wasn’t getting regular game time at Tottenham and Antonio Conte allowed him to join the French outfit.

Spence was handed a tough assignment today. He was up against Kylian Mbappe who started on the left-hand side for PSG, whilst Lionel Messi was also in the team.

Rennes produced a wonderful performance though. Karl Toko Ekambi scored just before half-time, with Arnaud Kalimuendo bagging a second just after the interval.

Spence was a quality loan signing by Forest last season. He made 44 appearances for the club and helped them end a 23-year wait to return to the Premier League.

Now, he’s busy trying to make a name for himself in France. He must have grown frustrated during the first half of the season, with Conte practically refusing to give him a chance in his team.

Forest weren’t really in the race to sign Spence in the summer. They identified Neco Williams instead, with last season’s right-back having his heart set on a move to Tottenham.

Get French Football News were really impressed with Spence today. They called him ‘unstoppable’ after his performances and this win will live long in his memory.

Spence helped Rennes beat PSG today

It’s hard not to take immense pride in Spence doing well for Forest fans. The Reds loved him performing week in and week out last season and wished him well.

Not signing him has been of massive detriment. As good as Serge Aurier has been, Williams hasn’t really proved as effective as Spence when it comes to linking up with Brennan Johnson.

Spence was outstanding against PSG this afternoon. He finished the game with a 91% pass-success ratio and managed to keep Mbappe and Messi at bay throughout.

It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Spence. Conte looks unlikely to be at Tottenham next season and it will be intriguing to see if the right-back can get a look in.
