Nottingham Forest Under-21s defeated Newcastle 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to keep up their quest for the Premier League 2 title. Julian Larsson was a man in fine form and he’s really showcasing his potential to the Reds.
Forest are flying at under-21 level. They have their eyes on silverware and are currently three points behind Leeds at the top of the Division Two table, with promotion on the line.

The Reds are in fine form at the moment. They haven’t lost in the league since the middle of September and have tasted victory in 11 of the last 13 games they have played.
Larsson has been in good form of late. He recently scored twice as the Reds defeated Derby County 7-2 and on Saturday he was at it again, bagging a brace against Newcastle.
The 21-year-old has probably outgrown under-21 football if the truth be told. In January the club almost got rid of him, with some reports claiming that he might be sold.
Larsson does have a contract at the City Ground until 2025. He’s a fantastic young player and it does look as though a loan move would be the next stage of his development.
He’s managed to find the net five times during the 2022/23 campaign. His game is about much more than scoring goals though, with the player often featuring as a number 10 this season.

Larsson will hope to continue scoring a few more goals this season. Clearly he likes playing as a centre-forward and that’s where he’s enjoyed the most success during 2022/23.
At 21, the player might have fancied playing more men’s football at this stage. Still, Steve Cooper is a huge fan and last season he travelled with the first-team squad on more than one occasion.
