Nottingham Forest-linked forward Ismaila Sarr will leave Watford in the summer even if they’re promoted back to the Premier League. According to The Athletic, the player will be sold at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Sarr will have just a year remaining on his existing deal at the end of the season. As a result, Watford will cash in on the 25-year-old who stayed at the club despite relegation last season.

The winger signed for the Hornets in 2019 from Rennes. The Hertfordshire-based outfit fought off competition from a host of clubs to sign him and he’s grown as a player.

In 123 appearances for Watford, he’s scored 33 goals and registered 23 assists. During the current campaign, Sarr has been in decent form, bagging nine goals and setting up five.

Forest were linked with Sarr during the summer transfer window. They wanted to sign him at the same time as they managed to land Emmanuel Dennis but Watford only wanted to cash in on one of their star men.

Now, Sarr is set to leave. The player who was called ‘world-class’ by El Hadji Diouf is likely to go to the Premier League, with Forest and Aston Villa trying to sign him last summer.

This could be big news for the Reds particularly if they stay in the Premier League. Sarr is a proven top-flight performer and it’s no surprise to see that he will leave the Hornets in the summer.

Other clubs will likely be interested. Liverpool and Manchester United have been keen in the past and it will be interesting to see what level of club he has vying for his signature.

Forest need to stay in the division first and foremost. If they can do that, signing a player like Sarr could be ideal as they aim to ensure that they aren’t in a relegation battle next season.
