Nottingham Forest forward Morgan Gibbs-White will captain the England Under-21s during games against France and Croatia. Lee Carsley confirmed the news at a press conference earlier today.
The 23-year-old has been in decent form with the Reds during 2022/23. Captaining the England Under-21s will be just reward and his boss has confirmed the decision to Football Daily.

Gibbs-White was Steve Cooper’s number-one transfer target following promotion last May. Intriguingly, the youngster missed the penalty in the play-off semi-final that sent Forest to Wembley.
It’s fair to say that the Reds performer is very much viewed as a player who is still improving. He is desperately craving more goals and assists but they will certainly come as his carer progresses.
For the next couple of weeks, he turns his intentions to international football. Not only will he have the three lions on his chest but he will also wear the captain’s armband on his sleeve.
Carsley told Football Daily: “It’s Morgan (Gibbs-White), he will captain the team. He has been on a brilliant journey for the last two years, he’s in excellent form and he’s been around the under-21s and he’s shown what he can do in the Premier League. It’s a proud moment for him.
Gibbs-White will captain England Under-21s
This will represent a really proud moment for Gibbs-White. He’s won the World Cup with the England Under-17s when Steve Cooper was in charge of the team.
Now, he’s hoping to play well enough with Forest to one day play for the senior England team. He will need to improve but if he keeps progressing at the rate he is, then he should impress Gareth Southgate.

Gibbs-White is a determined character. Things don’t always come off for him, however, he never stops trying to make things happen in the final third and he’s a huge asset for Forest.
This moment is a proud one for Forest’s record signing. Fans will be buzzing for him too and hopefully, the Young Lions can claim two big results with Gibbs-White leading the team.
