Nottingham Forest Women kept up their push to claim the Women’s Northern Premier Division title with a 2-0 win over Derby County. Goals from Charlotte Steggles and Charlotte Greengrass earned yet more bragging rights over the Rams.

Put the champagne on ice. Nottingham Forest women have defeated Derby twice. Andy Cook’s team followed up a 3-1 win at the City Ground earlier in the season with this victory at Pride Park.

Winning the title will still be tough for the Reds. They hold a four-point advantage over Burnley with four games left to play, but the Clarets have played two games fewer than Forest.

The Reds finished fifth last season in the Northern Premier Division. Cook kept the majority of his squad together during the summer, however, and they’re currently reaping the rewards.

Winning the league title would crown an amazing season for the Reds. Their results of late suggest that they deserve it too, with a recent 10-1 win over Boldmere St Michaels the pick of the pitch.

Against Derby, the Reds were in control for the majority of the clash. Derby’s season is pretty much petering to a drab conclusion now and Forest flexed their title ambitions.

Forest kept up their title push and Greengrass is a real talent

The player is listed on the club’s website as a forward. She is a busy performer who gives her all every time she steps into the field and has now reached a milestone for the campaign.

Greengrass scored her 20th goal of the campaign during the second half of the clash against Derby and there should be more to come between now and the end of the season.

Derby must be sick of the sight of Greengrass too. Back in October when the teams met, the forward bagged twice during that contest and the Rams will be glad to see the back of her.

Derby failing to beat Forest has become the norm in recent years. Now, the women appear to have the number of their rivals too and for Cook, the title will be all he is thinking about right now.
