Steve Cooper has suggested that Emmanuel Dennis might not play for Nottingham Forest this weekend. The 25-year-old limped out of the action at Leeds on Tuesday night as the Reds lost 2-1.

Dennis has been playing well of late after waiting patiently for an opportunity. In his last three matches, he’s claimed one goal and also registered an assist to the Forest cause.

The man with seven caps to his name has featured in the last five games for the Reds. He’s really stepped up his game and has proven his worth to the supporters and his manager.

Now, in typical Forest fashion, Dennis might be injured. The head coach has been discussing the forward and he’s suggested that he might not make Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa.

He told the club’s official website: “Emmanuel Dennis came off the other night and it’s something which we’re going to have to look at in regards to Saturday.”

Dennis signed for Forest in August for a fee of around £20 million. He scored his first goal against Aston Villa in October and has been forced to wait patiently for a proper chance.

He’s looked lively of late and is growing with each appearance. It was his quick thinking on Tuesday night that saw him pick the pass for Orel Mangala to open the scoring

This would be a blow for Forest, it has to be said. Some fans might still love to hate Dennis but lately, the Reds have been a better outfit when he’s been part of the team.

Fortunately, Taiwo Awoniyi is edging closer to full fitness and perhaps he will be set to start if Dennis doesn’t make it. The Nigerian has made a couple of substitute appearances since picking up a groin injury back in January and he will be a big player.

Dennis will hope to return quickly. He’s waited a long time to prove himself to Cooper this season. Now, it seems as though he might have to do that all over again following his latest injury setback.
