Nottingham Forest are hoping to appoint Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson to a senior football role. The news comes after Filippo Girladi was dismissed by the club just six months into his tenure at the City Ground; with the Ibrox guru targeted as his replacement.
It would appear that all is not well behind the scenes once again at Forest. Now, The Athletic claims that the 39-year-old has been targeted by Forest following his work with the Glaswegian giants, Watford, Huddersfield and Southampton.

Marinakis, it would seem, has once again made someone carry the can for a woeful recruitment drive in January. He did the same back in October when recruitment staff members George Syrianos and Andy Scott were sent on their way.
Wilson is quite experienced for a relatively young member of staff. He has played a major part in shaping the transfer and recruitment strategy at Rangers; although things have gone a little bit south in that sense since Steven Gerrard departed.
Forest signed Danilo and Felipe in the summer and those two have proved useful additions. It’s fair to say that Jonjo Shelvey, Chris Wood and Andre Ayew haven’t worked out; with both Keylor Navas and Gustavo Scarpa also arriving at the City Ground.
Forest hoping to appoint Ross Wilson
This would at least represent a small step in the right direction. With the report claiming that Forest have targeted Wilson for a fairly long time, at least it showcases that the Reds aren’t rushing into this appointment.
Rangers fans recently protested against Wilson. However, they are way behind Celtic in the title race and it would appear as though they are looking for someone to blame that isn’t Micheal Beale.

Wilson has done some decent work in his football-based roles. One thing that Forest desperately need ahead of next season regardless of what division they’re in, is a proper outlook on recruitment.
Internally, Forest are quietly confident they can get this one completed. Wilson has turned down several opportunities to return south but the Reds think this time could be different.
