Nottingham Forest supporting journalist Daniel Taylor has made an upsetting claim about the Reds players and Gary Brazil. The man who is a multiple Football Journalist of the Year has been writing some thoughts on the situation surrounding Forest’s key figure.
It’s quite remarkable that Evangelos Marinakis hasn’t handed Brazil a new contract yet. As things stand, Brazil will walk away from the City Ground in the summer after 11 years where he has transformed the club’s academy.

The 60-year-old should have the freedom of Nottingham, let alone a contract at Forest for life. He’s seen it all on Trentside and has helped raise the club millions in the way of transfer fees for players that Forest have produced.
Matty Cash, Ben Brereton, Oliver Burke and Arvin Appiah have all departed for sizeable sums. Ben Osborn was another who left the City Ground to play Premier League football having been nurtured at the club’s academy under Brazil.
Now, his time at the club could be coming to an end. With his contract up in the summer, Brazil could be waving goodbye to a club that he’s called home for over a decade.
It would seem that the decision to let him go would be universally unpopular. Taylor, writing for The Athletic, has explained that the decision not to give him a new contract has caused dismay among the players and staff on Trentside.

This really isn’t good news. Ross Wilson has been appointed to a Chief Football Officer role in the last 24 hours and one of his first remits should be to sort out a new contract for Brazil.

Forest simply can’t let Brazil leave the football club. He has earned the right to leave on his terms. Ultimately the academy could start to seriously unravel if he’s allowed to walk away at the end of the season.
Marinakis must act now. There is no point in letting this drag on any longer. Plus, the fact it’s caused some dismay among some of the players won’t do anyone any favours at all.
