Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has lauded Reds star, Brennan Johnson. The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season and will start against Manchester United today.

Cooper has given Johnson the chance to thrive on Trentside. He scored 19 goals and claimed 10 assists last season as the Reds reached the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.

The Reds are struggling at the moment. Cooper hasn’t overseen a victory for nine games and they face a United side today that are desperate for points to climb into the top four.

With Johnson in their team, however, they will always have half a chance. He’s showcased this season that he’s more than capable in the Premier League and Cooper is a huge fan of his.

He told the Daily Mail: “Just imagine where we’d be without him. I love working with Brennan, I see how hungry he is to do well. I know how important the club is to him and his family.

“I love seeing a young player wanting to learn and get better and not just doing the stuff on the training pitch and matchday but the stuff around it as well – the holistic approach to being an elite athlete.

“I love working with all the lads but I really, really enjoy working with Brennan. He absolutely loves the club and he’s got a talent we need to nurture because it’s really helpful to us.”

Cooper has lauded Johnson and Forest need him to step up

Johnson has taken to the Premier League exceptionally well. The Reds need him badly right now though and he must continue his strong form into the later stages of the season.

The Forest forward is a superb talent. He will definitely go on and play football at a higher level and the Reds will almost certainly lose him if they’re relegated this season.

Today, Forest face United. The Red Devils have already defeated the Reds three times this season and Cooper’s team desperately need to start winning football matches again.

With Johnson in the team, Forest will hope to cause an upset this afternoon.
