Loic Bade proved a strange signing by Nottingham Forest but now he’s starting to shine at Sevilla. On Sunday, shortly after the Reds lost to Manchester United, he scored as his current team beat Valencia 2-0.

The French defender was signed by Forest from Rennes. The Premier League outfit took him on loan and agreed on a deal to sign him permanently for £12 million.

His stay at the City Ground was short-lived though. He didn’t make a single appearance for the Reds in a competitive fixture and was recalled by the Ligue 1 outfit in January.

Clearly, it wasn’t Steve Cooper who chose to sign Bade. If it had have been then surely, he would have played in at least one match during a time when Forest were leaking goals left, right and centre.

His performance on Saturday was a joy to behold during the big La Liga clash. He opened the scoring on 55 minutes, with Suso wrapping up the victory for Sevilla with 15 minutes remaining.

His performance was so good that the media raved about him after the team had picked up three points. Sevillisimo said he was ‘impeccable’ after his goalscoring display.

Bade now in fine form after disastrous Forest spell

It’s great to see the French defender producing the goods at Sevilla. For Forest, however, they might now be left wondering what might have been with the team in woeful form.

Cooper might have missed a trick by not giving Bade a chance to prove himself. He was at the club at a time when the team lacked some serious pace defensively and he could hardly have done any worse.

Bade is now a regular in the team with the La Liga outfit. They’ve won three of their last five fixtures and now they can stop looking over their shoulders after a struggle of a season.

Forest fans will be baffled by the signing of Bade. It’s always odd when loan players are signed and then not played and now the defender is showing Forest what they’re missing.
