Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is considering appointing Steven Gerrard as the new manager of Olympiacos. The Reds’ chief is thought to be considering the appointment ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Sport FM believes that Gerrard will go to Olympiacos, despite their being an obvious link with Forest. Ross Wilson came to the City Ground from Rangers last week and the 39-year-old Chief Football Officer has worked with Gerrard before.

Marinakis has other ideas for him though. Olympiacos have not enjoyed a great season by their standards and are looking for a new boss after parting company with Michel.
Gerrard has been out of work since leaving Aston Villa back in October. He was in charge of the Villains for just under a year but won only 13 of his 40 matches during his time at the club.
As a coach, Gerrard does perhaps have a bright future in the game. His record at Rangers was largely impressive and he was the one who stopped Celtic from winning a tenth Premiership title in succession.

During his time at Ibrox, he brought through a lot of younger players and enjoyed some success in the transfer market. He left the club with a win ratio of 64.8%, winning 125 wins from 193 matches.
Forest owner Marinakis considering Gerrard
Let’s make this very clear, Marinakis is weighing up all options for his Olympiacos vacancy and Gerrard is on the radar. Should he decide to part with Cooper, it remains to be seen whether the Liverpool legend would be on Forest’s shortlist too.
Forest fans will hope that a shortlist doesn’t need to be assembled for some time yet. The Reds faithful are hopeful that Marinakis will stick with Cooper for the foreseeable, despite the fears of relegation.

Gerrard would unlikely be a popular appointment at Forest. He didn’t really showcase his true colours at Villa and it certainly wouldn’t be an upgrade on Cooper is deemed as a bright coach.
The man who won the Champions League with Liverpool, however, could soon have a new job. It will be Olympiacos instead of Forest where Gerrard is likely to be rocking up in the near future.
