Carlton Palmer has heaped praise on Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis for deciding to keep Steve Cooper as the Reds’ head coach.
The Reds are the only team currently fighting relegation not to have axed their manager during the 2022/23 campaign.
West Ham have also stuck with David Moyes throughout the current campaign, although it’s fair to say that they’re about safe now.
Today, Leeds United have sacked Javi Gracia and appointed Sam Allardyce for the final four matches of the campaign.
Naturally that has sparked plenty of talk regarding Forest’s decision to maintain their faith in Cooper as the club’s head coach.
Palmer spent a short time playing for Forest during his career and he thinks that Forest’s call might tempt more owners to show loyalty in the future.
He told TalkSPORT: “He’s done a fabulous job and for the club, I think it’s a good thing they’ve kept him. If they stay up it’s a good thing and offers a good indication that owners should perhaps stick with managers more.”
Cooper has been in charge of the club since September 2021. He replaced Chris Hughton at the football club and has taken them on quite a journey.

Some reports have claimed that Forest could also be tempted to make a change. If they beat Southampton on Monday, however, that does look unlikely.
Forest will have just three matches left to play. Arsenal have to come to the City Ground, whilst the Reds still have to go to Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Marinakis should be praised for persisting with Cooper. The Reds have waited ages to get a manager who simply gets the club and Cooper is that man.
Keeping the head coach is a no-brainer. If the worst happens and Forest go down; there really isn’t a man better equipped to bring the Reds back next season.
