Manchester United are now trying to sign Nottingham Forest-linked Dominik Livakovic and that could help the Reds sign Dean Henderson.
Forest wanted the Croatian in January when the on-loan United man injured his thigh against Leicester.
The Dinamo Zagreb star looks destined for a top European club during the summer transfer window.
He’s been the mainstay with the club for several years and has admiring glances from across Europe.
Forest have perhaps missed the boat but if they survive relegation, they’d dearly love to sign Henderson on a permanent basis.
The 26-year-old is now out for the season with the thigh injury he sustained in January but he will be fit for pre-season.
United look desperate to add to their goalkeeper ranks. They’ve already been linked with several stoppers and Henderson might not be in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Now, the Daily Mail believes that Livakovic is on the radar at Old Trafford and they could make a move.
Forest will definitely need a new goalkeeper regardless of what division they will play in next season.
Keylor Navas was signed on loan from PSG in January. He won’t be at the club next year and is eyeing a move to Mexico.
Ethan Horvath is currently out on loan with Luton. He does have one year to run on his existing deal but he won’t get a chance with Forest if they stay up.
United trying to sign Livakovic could help Forest sign Henderson
This rumour is clearly good news for Forest. When Henderson first signed for the Reds he made it crystal clear that he wants to play football.
If United add Livakovic to their ranks then he will be shunted down the order again. The Red Devils, of course, still have David de Gea in their ranks.
Henderson would be an amazing addition for the Reds. He wouldn’t cost a fortune in the context of the Premier League and has huge longevity.
The goalkeeper was class for Forest before his injury struck. Furthermore, he’s also brought a brilliant personality to the dressing room.
Livakovic going to United could prove just the ticket for Forest in their pursuit of Henderson this summer.
