BBC pundit Stephen Kelly has raved about Nottingham Forest star Keylor Navas following a 4-3 win over Southampton.

The Reds have given their survival hopes a firm shot in the arm with the win and the fight goes on.

Forest are now 16th in the Premier League with just three games remaining of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Reds won on Monday night courtesy of a Taiwo Awoniyi brace, Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo.

It was Navas who was also in fine form though and he’s stepped up since joining on loan from PSG.

He joined after Dean Henderson picked up a thigh injury which ultimately ended his campaign.

It’s been tough for Navas who has kept just a single clean sheet since signing for the Reds but he’s largely been decent.

At 36-years-old, Navas is only a short-term option but he’s made several fine saves since checking in.

Kelly was mightily impressed with him on Monday and he felt he was a man for the big occasion.

He told BBC Sport: “Keylor Navas has been there in the big moments tonight. His reactions have been great and he’s pulled off some smart saves.”

It’s been a pleasure and somewhat surreal to see Navas strutting his stuff down at the City Ground.

Things haven’t always gone according to plan but ultimately, Forest would have conceded more goals without him.

Navas has made some brilliant saves for the team and Monday was no exception against Southampton.

As a three-time Champions League winner, it would have been easy for Navas to sit and kick his heels at PSG.

That isn’t really his style though and he jumped at the chance to play in the Premier League with Forest.

Another performance or two from Navas wouldn’t be a bad thing and hopefully, he can lead the team to safety in the coming weeks.
