Paul Merson has delivered his prediction for Chelsea v Nottingham Forest this weekend and he doesn’t believe the Reds will kick on.

The Sky Sports pundit has been giving his predictions to Sportskeeda and he believes that Forest might already be safe from relegation.

Forest beat Southampton 4-3 in a must-win game on Monday night to move 16th in the Premier League.

The result came just hours after Everton had thumped Brighton 5-1 and as a result, it was imperative that Forest issued a response.

Now, the Reds have three more games to try and pick up as many points as possible.

They face Chelsea on Saturday, take on Arsenal at the City Ground next weekend and finish the campaign with a trip to Crystal Palace.

It won’t be easy and it’s fair to say that Forest will be hoping that the teams below them can struggle to win games between now and the end of the season.

Merson doesn’t believe the Reds will win this weekend but he does think they might already have enough points to be safe.

He told Sportskeeda: “Nottingham Forest did very well against Southampton under pressure. But I think this is a game where Nottingham Forest are going to struggle to eke out a positive result.

“Chelsea haven’t been at their best but I don’t see how Forest are going to get the better of them.

“Forest might already be safe and might have enough points to survive the drop. I think Leicester, Leeds United and Southampton are destined for relegation.”

Merson has delivered Chelsea v Nottingham Forest prediction

This will be a tough game for the Reds this weekend, despite the struggles that Chelsea have encountered this season.

Forest have nothing to lose though and can go to Chelsea with the intention of having a go and trying to ensure a positive outcome from the game.

Merson thinks that Chelsea will win the game 3-0 and given that the Blues have struggled for goals that would be a disappointing result.

In recent weeks, the Reds have found the way to goal so hopefully, something positive can come out of the weekend’s clash.
